Picture 1
Step 2 - Remove
Cotter Keys from Ball joints
Step 3 - Losen Ball
Joints (not all the way) usually a 17mm or 19mm socket or wrench
Picture 2
Step 4 - Remove
bottom shock bolts on a-arms allowing a-arm to drop, usually a 14mm or
17mm socket and wrench
Picture 3
Step 5 - Disconnect
brake line tabs from top a-arms using a 8mm or 10mm socket or wrench
Step 6 - Remove tie
rods with a 19mm wrench. Remember one jam nut is a right hand thread,
while the other is a left hand thread. (General rule of thumb is that
the left hand threads are on the steering stem end, while the right hand
thread is on the spindle end, except Yamaha)
Step 7 - Breaking
ball joints loose from spindle - while putting downward pressure on
spindle or tire using a hammer and an aluminum block. Smack the outside
edge of spindle which will "shock" the ball joints loose. Make sure you
have left the nuts attached loosely to the ball joints otherwise
everything will fall
Picture 4, Picture 5
Step 8 - Now you may
remove all nuts attaching a-arms to frame.
Picture 6
Step 9 - Remove ball
joint nuts, spindle and wheel from a-arm. You can place the tire,
spindle, etc CAREFULLY on foot pegs, but be careful of brake lines

Step 10 - Remove
bolts holding A-arms to frame, then remove arms

The bushings used in the JD
PERFORMANCE a-arm kits are self-lubricatting. DO NOT use grease between
inner metal sleeve and bushings. Grease may be used between Metal sleeve
and bolt only
Step 11 - Install
NEW lower arms. Be sure the laser cut "JD" is facing forward
Picture 10
Step 12 - Install
top arms. The longer of the tubes should be towards the back of the
bike. Picture 11
Step 13 - Reinstall
spindle to ball joint being careful not to damage the brake lines, and
start nylock nuts (included with new a-arm kit)
Step 14 - Apply
downward pressure on spindle or wheel and tighten nylock nuts on
balljoints. If you reinstalled the lower shock bolt, remove it, and
tighten ball joint nuts WITHOUT shock connect to lower a-arm.

Step 15 - Reconnect
shock to lower a-arm.
Step 16 - Install
New tie Rods. Remember one side is left hand thread, while the other is
right hand thread. If it doesn't begin to thread in, try flipping tie
rod over and thread in to other tie rod end.
Step 17 - Check all
nuts, bolts and connections one more time to make sure they are
tightened properly.
Now is the time to adjust your Camber, Caster
and Toe settings. READ BELOW
